Cottey College

Cottey College is an independent, liberal arts and sciences college for women, located in Nevada, Missouri.  It was founded by Virginia Alice Cottey in 1884 with the belief that women deserve the same quality education as men.  The P.E.O. Sisterhood accepted the College as a gift from Virginia Alice Cottey in 1927, which made it the only nonsectarian college owned and supported by women.

A Cottey education emphasizes high academic standards with unique opportunities for personal growth through residential, cultural, and intellectual experiences.  Cottey is the only college in the U.S. that guarantees – and pays airfare and lodging for – an international travel experience to a European city for every sophomore student.
